WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL
International Women’s Day Celebration – March 8, 2024.
The Women Empowerment Cell of the GCE, BN organized the International Women’s Day Celebration on Friday, March 8, 2024. WEC Student Coordinator Ms. Sorna of final year Civil delivered a welcome address. The ceremony was inaugurated by Dr.C.Vasanthanayaki, Principal, Dr.Sumathy, Chief Guest and the HoD’s by lighting the lamp. The Principal felicitated the chief guest Dr. Sumathy with a memento. Dr.C.Vasanthanayaki gave a short speech about the important role played by women. The chief guest for the event was Dr. Sumathy, MBBS, DGO, Medical Officer, Government Primary Health Centre, Doumbuchery, Theni explained the merits and tribulations of women through stories and also pointed out the dignity of women by saying Jaya Baskaran’s poems. In her speech, she highlighted the achievements of Vivekananda, Mahakavi Bharathiyar and Barathidasn for women. Finally, she pointed out that men and women are equal by highlighting the sufferings of women and the freedom they deserved during the Vaikam War at Tiruvithancore. Followed by the address of the chief guest, WEC members with the guidance of the Principal conducted various events to mark this day. The faculty and students actively participated in the events. Competitions were also held for all women staff members and prizes were distributed to the winners. Ms. Sneha, the final year of Civil proposed a vote of thanks and the programme ended with National Anthem.
