Government College of Engineering, Bodinayakkanur, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai is one of the recent institutions in Tamilnadu . It was started in 2012 with its temporary building at Kalapandiyan Polytechnic College, Sillamarathupatti, Bodinayakkanur.
The permanent building of Government College of Engineering, Bodinayakkanur was inaugurated by then Honourable Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Dr.J.Jayalalitha on 12-06-2015 through Video Conferencing for the welfare of western part of Tamilnadu students. It covers an area of 10.06 acres.
The college is located at the heart of the “Cardamom City” proudly called as the city of “South Kashmir” by the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru. GCE, Bodinayakkanur was started with five under graduate courses namely Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electricals & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering each with an intake of 60 students. At present GCE, Bodinayakkanur is successfully functioning with a total number of 1131 students. They are excellently taught and trained by more than 50 permanent Professors. The extra amenities with this college are Auditorium building, workshop buildings , Basketball Court, Gym , canteen and Guest house.
